In a bid to accelerate adoption of its trusted-traveller program before the summer surge, the Transportation Security Administration and authorised enrolment partner IDEMIA announced on April 30 a month-long “$20 Take-Off Promo.” From May 1-31, travellers aged 18-30 can join TSA PreCheck for $56.75—down from the standard $76.75—at more than 500 enrolment centres nationwide. The five-year membership allows expedited screening at 200+ U.S. airports, letting passengers keep shoes, belts, laptops and liquids in place. TSA says PreCheck lanes process travellers in under five minutes on average—an increasingly attractive perk as checkpoint staffing normalises after the DHS shutdown. Younger professionals represent the fastest-growing segment of domestic business travel, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. By lowering the cost barrier, TSA hopes to lock in lifetime loyalty and reduce standard-lane congestion ahead of two mega-events: the 2026 FIFA World Cup and America 250 celebrations, which are expected to drive record inbound traffic. Employers that subsidise or reimburse PreCheck enrolment may wish to schedule onsite “pop-up” sign-ups to capitalise on the discount. Mobility managers should remind staff that Global Entry applicants receive PreCheck automatically—so employees who frequently travel abroad may be better served by paying the $100 Global Entry fee and applying any corporate credit-card rebates.
