Interior-minister Konstantinos Kornesios told parliament that Cyprus will seek priority access to the €600 million Digital Borders Fund to integrate its new Green Line camera network with EU databases. Corporate mobility teams should prepare for more rigorous ID checks at Larnaca and Paphos airports even for short-haul Schengen-bound flights, as border officers familiarise themselves with the new rules. Employers bringing in third-country nationals on assignment may also find that certain nationalities face expedited—but stricter—screenings, making meticulous documentation essential. Human-rights NGOs have warned that the compressed timelines risk superficial decision-making. Government insiders counter that Cyprus has piloted an AI-assisted triage tool since March, allowing asylum officers to flag vulnerabilities and security alerts within hours of registration, balancing speed with due process.
