At an event in Catania on 30 June 2026 the Sicilian regional government presented “Sicilia Inte(G)razione”, a €12 million project co-financed by the EU Asylum, Migration & Integration Fund (FAMI). The initiative, covered by the national migrants-integration portal, aims to create a digital one-stop shop that links health, employment and language-training services for third-country nationals. Key features include a multilingual app allowing newcomers to book appointments at public offices, automatic reminders when residence permits or vaccinations are due, and integration pathways tailored to skills profiles. Pilot desks will open in Catania, Palermo and Trapani before rolling out island-wide in 2027. Business relevance: Employers relocating staff to Sicily will gain faster access to tax codes, health cards and enrolment in state schools—areas that often delay assignment starts. The region will also issue a ‘Welcome Sicily Pass’ giving priority access to job-matching services in sectors facing labour shortages such as agritech and renewable energy. The project aligns with Italy’s National Integration Plan and could serve as a template for other regions with high migrant inflows.
