Dubai International Airport (DXB) has issued an operational alert indicating that almost three million passengers are expected to pass through its terminals between 1 and 15 July, with 12 July projected to be the single busiest day of the summer. The figures, disclosed on 4 July, signal a return to pre-pandemic – and indeed record-setting – throughput just as European school holidays begin. Airport authorities are redeploying staff to immigration halls, reopening seasonal check-in islands and urging airlines to enforce three-hour advance arrival rules. Emirates has asked premium-cabin flyers to use its DIFC in-town check-in, while flydubai is waiving re-booking fees for passengers who volunteer to move to off-peak departures. From a mobility perspective the congestion has knock-on effects. HR teams bringing in new hires should factor longer waits for residence-visa medicals and Emirates ID biometrics, as staff at Smart Salem centres are routinely diverted to airport duty during peak travel days. Cargo handlers warn that the passenger rush will also squeeze belly-hold capacity, so companies moving household goods under lump-sum packages may face delays unless shipments are routed through Dubai World Central. DXB processed 95.2 million passengers in 2025 and is on track to smash the 100-million mark this year, consolidating its position as the world’s busiest international hub – a statistic global-mobility teams cannot ignore when planning assignment start dates.
