India’s upgraded Air Suvidha 2.0 portal has moved from soft launch to full enforcement. A 20 July 2026 advisory posted by the High Commission of India in Lilongwe and mirrored by several missions worldwide reminds travellers that completion of the digital Self-Declaration Form (SDF) is now compulsory before boarding any flight to India. The form—introduced in late June after the World Health Organization classified the current Ebola outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern—captures a 21-day travel history, exposure details and symptom profile. Unlike the pandemic-era Air Suvidha process, the 2.0 platform is integrated with the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) database and the Bureau of Immigration’s e-gates. Passengers who submit the form at least 24 hours prior to arrival receive a QR code that is validated automatically at immigration counters, eliminating the need for paper copies and speeding clearance by an estimated 40 percent. Airlines have begun denying boarding to passengers without the digital acknowledgement, and airport operators report that manual-entry lanes are being phased out. Travellers connecting through hubs such as Doha or Dubai are urged to ensure good Wi-Fi access during transit so they can amend declarations if flight itineraries change. From a corporate-mobility standpoint, the new requirement adds an extra compliance step: travel desks should embed completion of the SDF into pre-trip checklists alongside visa and vaccination documentation. Companies running last-minute deployments may wish to pre-fill non-medical sections for employees to expedite submission. Failure to comply attracts penalties under the Epidemic Diseases Act and may include quarantine or denial of entry. The government stresses that Air Suvidha 2.0 is a dynamic platform; additional modules—such as yellow-fever vaccination e-verification and integration with the forthcoming Trusted Traveller biometric corridor—are planned for Q4 2026. Mobility managers should therefore anticipate further digital-health touchpoints in India’s border-control ecosystem.
